Getting started
What is Option Omega?
Option Omega is an options trading platform with three connected products: Modeling to visualize any strategy, a powerful Backtester to pressure-test it against real historical data, and Automation to trade it live across your brokerage — all in one place, with no code.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — a 7-day free trial is available on the Lite, Essential, and Plus tiers (Premium is not included). The trial has every parameter the paid plan has, with two limits: historical data covers the previous three calendar years, and Optimizer usage is limited during the trial. Be sure to click the 7-day Free Trial button at checkout rather than the Choose Subscription button.
Do I need to install anything or run a server?
No. Modeling and backtesting run right in your browser, and automation runs on professional cloud infrastructure. There's nothing to install and no VPS to maintain.
How do I learn the platform?
Start with the free Backtesting and Automation Bootcamps in Option Omega Academy, then dig into the written documentation and the YouTube library. There's also an active Discord community where members and the team answer questions every day.
Plans & billing
What plans are available?
Four tiers: Lite (modeling), Essential (backtesting), Plus (backtesting + modeling), and Premium (trading + backtesting + modeling). Premium includes everything. You only ever need one active subscription.
Can I upgrade, downgrade, or switch plans later?
Yes, anytime, from the self-service billing portal in the web app (Settings → Billing). When you change tiers your existing subscription is prorated and discounted against the new one.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Manage or cancel your subscription in Settings → Billing → Manage Subscription. If you're on the Premium tier, remove your broker connections, pause new trades, and close existing positions before downgrading.
Is it monthly or annual?
Both. Pay month-to-month or save with annual billing. There's no long-term contract, and you can switch between monthly and annual from the billing portal.
Data & accuracy
What market data does Option Omega use?
Backtests use actual recorded market bid/ask data — not theoretical estimates — at 1-minute resolution during regular trading hours, going back to January 1, 2013 and updated overnight. Modeling prices and Greeks use the Black-Scholes model with implied volatility sourced from the same market data provider.
How are fills calculated?
Trades open and close at the mid price by default. You can add slippage and per-contract commissions to make results reflect real-world execution, and the Intra-Minute Stop Loss option checks SPX and SPY 0DTE stops every second instead of every minute.
Why do results look strange around certain dates?
Extreme-volatility events — the 2018 Volmageddon, the 2020 COVID crash, the 2024 yen unwind, market data outages, and similar events — produced genuinely wide spreads and abnormal fills. Those are real market conditions, not glitches. You can use blackout days or wide-spread filtering, but remember those moves actually happened.
Why are the deltas slightly different from my broker's?
Greeks come from a data vendor and are consistent with other professional tools. Small differences versus a specific broker come down to how that broker chooses to display deltas.
Backtesting
Which symbols can I backtest?
SPX (PM-settled), SPY, QQQ, IWM, AAPL, MSFT, AMZN, NVDA, TSLA, TLT, GLD, and IBIT.
How many legs and tests do I get?
Up to 8 legs per backtest (automated strategies run up to 4 legs), 16 prebuilt strategy templates plus fully custom builds, unlimited tests you can save and tag, portfolios that let you run multiple strategies together, and backtest optimizations that sweep dozens of variations in one run (10 per day of 50 tests on Essential and Plus, 250 per day of 500 tests on Premium).
Can I backtest 0DTE strategies?
Yes. Entries and exits run on 1-minute data, and for SPX/SPY 0DTE the Intra-Minute Stop Loss checks your stop against per-second prices for more realistic stop-loss modeling.
Are extended/overnight hours supported?
No — backtests cover regular trading hours only (9:30 AM to 4:00 PM ET), and the first data point used is 9:32 to avoid the noise of the opening prints.
Can I backtest a multiple entry iron condor (MEIC)?
Yes. A Multiple Entry Iron Condor (MEIC, sometimes written M.E.I.C.) opens a new 0DTE iron condor at several set times during the session. Add up to 20 intraday entry times to a single test, set per-leg stops and profit targets, and see how the full ladder performed on real SPX 1-minute data going back to 2013.
Modeling
What does Modeling actually do?
Build any multi-leg options strategy with a few clicks and instantly see a live payoff diagram (in 2D or 3D), the full Greeks, your breakevens, and your max profit and loss — no spreadsheets or formulas required.
Can I see how a trade behaves in different conditions?
Yes. Drag time to expiration, the underlying price, and implied volatility to watch the trade play out across calm markets, a volatility spike, or a crash — before you risk a dollar.
Why does the chart P/L differ from the sidebar P/L?
The chart shows theoretical P/L from the Black-Scholes model, while the sidebar shows real-time P/L from live market data. Seeing both together is how you learn where theory and the live market diverge.
Automation
Which brokers does automation support?
Tastytrade, Tradier, Schwab (thinkorswim), and TradeStation. You can connect one login per broker, with unlimited sub-accounts, and automate every symbol available in Option Omega.
Are there limits on strategies or contracts?
No limit on the number of strategies. You get up to 100 opening executions per day across all strategies for one flat price, and you can add accounts for more capacity (within the 390 professional-orders rule).
Is there paper trading?
No — automations run on live brokerage accounts. We strongly recommend completing the Automation Bootcamp, reading the docs, and getting feedback in Discord before you go live.
What symbols can I trade?
All supported backtesting symbols (SPX, SPY, QQQ, IWM, AAPL, MSFT, AMZN, NVDA, TSLA, TLT, GLD, and IBIT) plus XSP.
Can I still manage trades manually?
Yes. Entries run hands-free, but you can close or adjust any open trade by hand whenever you want — you stay in control.
